FoolsCap

Instincts are misleading: You shouldn’t think what you’re feeling.

Avatar = Have a tar.  Alright, you come up with clever puns after a morning of student conferences, wise guy!

Calm down, breathe out. . . .

So I’m digging the whole StripGenerator phenomenon.  It lets me write about things of concern to me but the whole comic strip format forces me toward brevity as well as offering me some little distance toward the object of discussion–I don’t want to say objectivity because the point of the strip isn’t that, but rather to make distinct the FoolsCap me from the Mild Sauce me.

Mild Sauce is also (I’ve decided) the name of the little character I’ve been using as my comic strip stand-in.  I chose that little dude because (eerily) his hairline almost perfectly matches my own.  I’ll let y’all figure out why his name is Mild Sauce.  ‘Cos I don’t know.  It just makes sense.

Also, I love Kant, Adorno, Horkheimer, Vitanza, Derrida, Rousseau, and Alfred Doblin.  Just please, please tell me that after Flatley’s class I’ll never have to read Heidegger again.  If crimes against language were punishable by hanging. . .well, Marty H is already dead, but I’d dig up the corpse and do rude things with it just to prove a point.

I like writing about myself–hence the strip–but feel like an egotistical ass to do it in this space.  So I can be an ass in the guise of Mild Sauce and friends (thus far, just two: Brenda and Unnamed Girl) with somewhat less guilt than using precious FoolsCap space for that work.
